Every garden enthusiast knows that spring is a busy and active time, whatever size you’re working with! Read on to find out what our team have been up to recently to ready the Heathfield gardens for summer.
A New Herb Garden:
The gardeners have been busy at work with a new herb garden in the Coach House Walled Garden.
We hope that our guests will enjoy making use of this in their cooking, as well as enjoying the fragrances of a kitchen garden whilst sitting out on a summer evening.
Inspired by a visit to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Jackie and our gardener Heather have designed a new woodland bed at the front of the Heathfield Estate.
It’s full of gorgeous shade-loving plants including agapanthus, verbena lollipop, lupins and astrantia.
Bird Nests and Bug Boxes:
In February we welcomed The Cameron Bespolka Trust to advise us on installing bird nests, bug boxes, and even a hedgehog box in the grounds. It’s been wonderful to see that birds have nested in most of the boxes; sightings so far include wagtails, tits and robins. We hope that our guests will pick up a pair of binoculars and spend time watching the creatures in their new home at Heathfield over the summer.
If you’ve taken any snaps of the garden during your time at Heathfield, we’d love to see them. Tag us on Instagram @HeathfieldNewForest or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Here’s to a glorious summer outdoors!
